|This leg was made for moving

I'm in the middle of moving house at the moment. I shifted into a new place over the weekend to discover it was pretty much uninhabitable so I'm now staying with friends who are going through a seperation.|
Because I'm moving stuff before coming to work I wore my leg today (for those not in the know & not clued in by my username, I'm an amputee). It's a nice change being able to bring my coffee down from the cafe myself & generally getting around.
My boss made mention of the fact that if you didn't know you wouldn't guess & also mentioned how much more agile I am on my leg. While I do like the mobility I gain from wearing my prosthesis, I also like using crutches as it makes my disability visible. In a way I reckon it's the same as gay guys who come out & immediately adopt a lisp & start calling people Dahling, it answers peoples' questions without them having to ask. People also have a tendency to forget I'm disabled when I do wear my prosthesis even if they've known me for years.
The funniest comment today came from Gabby who asked what was different about me, then said "Oh, you're wearing a hat...& your leg".
